THE SEARCH IS ON ……..(AGAIN)
Some of you will, surely, remember the big deal I made out of the first feature film which was released about C.S. Lewis'
series of children's books called, "The Chronicles of Narnia".  was the first movie and it is about four siblings who find their way into a new world, Narnia, by climbing into the back of a wardrobe. In the new world the animals talk, an evil witch has the country under a spell, and the hope of the victims is all placed in a majestic lion named Aslan who represents Jesus in a wonderfully dramatic fashion. When the film about Narnia was released I began to spread the rumor that I wanted to have a live lion cub in church for Christmas Eve that year. The search for our lion got even more attention than the real "search" for the Messiah which it was meant to replicate! Our search even got us written up in the Post-Dispatch on the front page and the Weatherbird artist did a caption about "the hunt"! It was all very exciting.
Well, the excitement begins in the Month of May when a second film about Narnia is to be released. The new film will be called, "Prince Caspian" and it promises to be as terrific as the first film was. C.S. Lewis always said that he never really intended for his books to be a Christian metaphor but the lion just sort of 'showed up' in the text as he went along and Aslan changed the atmosphere of the whole adventure. Prince Caspian is a story about a great journey to Aslan's country in search of seven nobleman from Narnia who have been lost at sea for years. The best part of the story, without giving too much away, is that the same characters from the first story are back and they are going on a journey which is sure to call forth new depths of courage from them as they learn to trust Aslan to lead them. So, join me on Sundays during May as we go back to Narnia, and maybe this time we can find that Lion. Let me know if you know where one is!
Love, Pastor Scott
